Infrared (Infra-Blue?)

For my final project there are three things that I would like to accomplish and test.

  1. I want to explore the realm of infrared photography and re-create the world through the camera and the infrared filter. I am looking to shoot images of the natural world as well as the man made world to create an interesting and unique subject that is both familiar and "from another world".
  2. I would also like to attempt to pring the images utilizing the Cyanotype process as an additional twist to see if the color difference will create an interesting effect on the images. I may also experiment with the Salt process, but this will depend on whether or not the salt print technique will create the effect that I am looking for in this project.
  3. I would like to have the final product be in the form of a book, bound by the Coptic binding technique
The Technical Aspects

I will be using a digital camera with a Hoya Infrared filter as well as a tripod to keep the camera steady while exposing.  And I will be creating the negatives digitally.  I am planning on printing with the Cyanotype process and potentially the salt process as well depending on the images and how well the salt print process works for the images. I will be using either Arches Platine paper or Fabriano Paper for the final product. This will depend on whether or not the images will be best served on paper that is more stark white or paper that has a little bit of warmth.  For the construction of the book and the materials needed for the book (other than the paper), I will be using book boards, cloth for the cover, wax string or another type of string, and loose leaf paper that compliments the color tones in the book.  I will attempt to use the Coptic binding technique and I will potentially print an image on the cloth with either the Cyanotype or Salt print process.

Here are some of the Images I have so far in the original Infrared color, and also in Black and white. I am currently in the process of shooting more images, but these are the two I have worked on the most.
